It Was Good Friday

First, let me remind you that I have an awesome giveaway running. Click here to check it out! Giveaway ends on Monday!

———————————————————————————-

Last night, I went to the Good Friday service at church and….WOW. That’s all I can really say to sum it up. The pastor was amazing, the music was amazing, communion was amazing.

I guess I never really thought about what Good Friday was meant to “celebrate.” But, last night the pastor broke it down for us in such an emotional and raw service that there were tears from one end of the room to the other. Good Friday is meant to “celebrate” the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. I guess I just never really put myself in the position to realize. He died a horrible, painful death so that we could enjoy eternal life. He suffered an excruciating six hours of slow suffocation….all the while being taunted and spit at. Can you even fathom the thought process He went through as he walked and tripped His way to Golgotha to be hung from the cross? He knew exactly what He was doing and he was scared….He was human after all. He pleaded with God to save Him from His fate….but at the same time He willingly sacrificed himself….for us….for you….for me.

Tomorrow, we will celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Chris. Now that is something to celebrate. The greatest historical event of all time. Another thing that I cannot even imagine.

So, tomorrow….Give thanks to the One that gave His life so that we all can have our chance at eternity. Remember why we are celebrating and do not let the Easter Bunny or chocolate eggs overshadow the true meaning of Easter.

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die.  John 11:25-26
