I Took The Plunge

On Saturday, May 22, 2010, I was baptized. It was an amazing experience and I was so lucky to be able to experience it with my closest friends right there by my side.
This past Saturday, 250+ people (from my church family and their friends and families) gathered at the lake for a “BBQ and Baptism” like no other. Forty-four people took the God plunge that day and dedicated their lives to Christ in front of these 250+ witnesses. It was amazing to hear all of the cheers from the crowd as each person was baptized. Absolutely heartwarming. Then it was my turn…
My husband walked out with me (he also got baptized that day) and when I looked out and saw all those little blurry people (I really need my glasses to see worth a pooh) it really made my heart smile. The most inspirational moment of my life thus far….
And that, my friends, is a pretty amazing photo (thanks Shannon). In this photo, you are witnessing the symbolism of the old Me dying and the new Me being born again in His eyes. How amazing is that?
This all started because of one invite. If God has changed your life, please tell me about it! I love hearing those stories.

    Congrats!!!

Dh and I have talked about this- we haven’t been baptized, other than infant baptism. My family believes that is all you need, where our church tells us we should do it as adults, when it’s our choice. We both feel weird about it, like that’s saying we’re new Christians…we have very mixed feelings about it.

What a great experience for you!

    Thanks for linking up!

Congrats! God is sooo awesome he has some so many amazing things in my life. You asked for folks to share so I must tell you that God restored my marriage that was on its way to divorce–lawyers, child support–a might past just talking about divorce! We we on our way! But Glory to God, he had his way! What the devil meant for bad, God meant for our good!
    Blessings

Congratulations, Lindsay! That’s so awesome! I was baptized when I was ten in a neighbor-church that had an indoor baptismal. I always thought it would be cool to be baptized outside in a lake or river or something. Welcome to the family :)

That was a great plunge to take. It must have been exciting getting baptized in a lake like Jesus did. I was baptized as a teen in the traditional baptismal (not that it was any less important or symbolic, but cause it changed my life).

    Happy SITS Day!

  12. Popping in from the SITS directory.

I love finding a woman who is willing to let others see her steps of faith. God does amazing works in people if they just let Him…I asked Christ to be my Lord when I was only 3, baptized at 12 and can’t imagine my life without Him. So glad to have found your blog! And can’t wait to go through more of it.
