I have been told so many times by friends and family, “I see all of these great giveaways that you have on your blog, but I just don’t know how to enter them. I’m not a blogger, so it’s all foreign to me.”
I was the same way before I started blogging. In this step-by-step guide, I am going to show you how to enter giveaways on my blog (and most other WordPress blogs). If you are looking for how to enter giveaways on a Blogspot blog (those like lindsayblogs.com) then you should see this guide.
First, and most importantly, you do not need to have an account in order to enter a giveaway on my blog. That is a big difference from almost every blogspot blog out there and one of the big reasons I chose WordPress as my blogging platform. All you need is your name, email address (that will be kept private) and a website (not required, but allowed).
The comment form
- When you see a GIVEAWAY, click on the comments to enter….Keep in mind that some blogs have their comments in different places so keep an eye out for this. On my blog, they look like this:
- IMPORTANT!! Follow the giveaway instructions! The blog author will clearly spell out the steps of the giveaway entries. Most giveaways will allow more than one entry, so just make sure you complete the mandatory entry and then you can go nuts on the “extra entries.”
That’s it. All you have to do is follow the directions and leave a comment. Some blogs may have you fill out a form to enter, but that will all be explained in the giveaway rules (see step 2). Just make sure you read the directions and follow them!
A few quick notes

For most blog giveaways, you only need to leave a comment letting the author know you completed the aforementioned entry requirements and you are entered.

If you win, most authors will send you an email letting you know. You usually have 24-48 hours to respond to this email so make sure you check your e-mail often so you don’t miss out!

Make sure your e-mail address is correct in the comments you leave. That is how you will be notified if you win!
