A real post!

Today I am not participating in any memes. No Friday Follow. No Follow Me Friday. No Friendly Friday. None of that stuff today. I promised you all some real, honest writing here and I plan to deliver on that promise.

So today, I just want to catch you up on what’s going on with me and my life. I’ve been feeling really happy lately…ecstatic really. I’ve got a new house to look forward to. I’ve got a DIAPER FREE new house to look forward to. I’ve got some real writing experience under my belt. I’ve found some passion in writing.

My new home

Ah, my new house. I’m so happy to report that we will be moving to a new home at the end of August when our current lease runs out. This new house is bigger and has all of the things that my dream home should have – a fenced backyard, a separate shower/tub and a PANTRY! The pantry about made me cry happy tears. When we first viewed the home, I saw that they had a bunch of shelves in the laundry room (right off the kitchen) and the current residents were using this as dry food storage. My heart sank a little when they told me they were taking the shelves with them. But then, I saw the little door in the kitchen that led to a REAL pantry. I almost died. My cabinets in my current home are absolutely stuffed to the gills. STUFFED. I’m absolutely serious about that. If you open them too fast, stuff falls out. So a pantry is really a gift from God.

On another note, my two year old is right in the middle of potty-training. She’s been kind of training for the past several months. But last week, her daycare teacher stopped me when I picked her up and asked how she was doing with the potty at home. I admitted that she often refused my offers to use the potty and has never used the potty for #2. So, we devised a plan. Saturday, Dumpling spent her day in big girl panties and used the potty all day long. The only problem was #2 and she literally held it in until she couldn’t anymore. I saw her clench, people. She did not want to poop in those pretty panties. Good stuff, right there. So, all week she’s been going to daycare in big girl panties and only having maybe one accident per day (excluding poop). I’m so proud of my little Dumpling! Granted, Pumpkin was much easier to potty-train – one weekend in panties and she was done, folks. But, my little Dumpling is doing her very best and is so pleased with herself every time she succeeds. How can I not be proud?

And now for some shameless self-promotion. I mentioned before that I had discovered that I really like writing. It’s really strange. I’ve never really enjoyed writing before (blogging doesn’t count – I love that). But, all of a sudden I have discovered that I actually enjoy writing articles. Researching and reading statistics and information is actually kind of fun. Call me a dork if you will, but this is really something that I enjoy doing. I’ve been writing for Examiner.com as the Atlanta Northside Working Moms Examiner for the past week or so. I’ve also started writing articles for Helium in the past few days and I’ve already published five articles in the past few days. I’m really enjoying myself and I would really appreciate any feedback or support any of you could give me. If you would like, you can subscribe to my Examiner.com column and make me a really happy lady. J I’ve even written a few guest posts for Moms of Faith that were really enjoyable to write and get involved in the reader discussions that come from them.

So, what’s going on in your life? Do you have any exciting new hobbies or fun news to share? I’d love to hear about it!

Congrats on the potty progress! Mine was super easy to train (took 1 day once I pulled the plug on diapers) but we struggled with poop for a while. She’d hold #2 for like 4 days at a time. Poor kiddo! TGIF!
