Okay, you all know that I have two little girls. But I have two completely different little girls. One is girly and loves her hair done and hates getting dirty. The other won’t let me touch her hair, like blocks and loves getting filthy. Dumpling is that girl. She loves building (and then destroying) things and she tends to enjoy playing with toys that are more traditionally thought of as “boy toys.”
When I got the offer to review the Sodor Search and Rescue set from Mega Bloks, I was hesitant because it is more traditionally a “boys” toy, right? Not even close! When it came in, my girls were so excited (yes, both of them). Pumpkin loved having the entire set look exactly like it does on the box, while Dumpling had a blast taking apart all of the pieces. One of the coolest things about the Sodor Search and Rescue set is that all of the pieces come apart – from Thomas to the crane to Harold (the search and rescue helicopter).

Another cool thing about the Sodor Search and Rescue is that it has so many ways you can build it. The tracks can go several different ways, so the girls get to use their imaginations in building it. Also, the container that holds all of the blocks is actually a part of the scene. It’s the base from which Thomas’s begins! So, it’s really an all-inclusive set that really sparks their imaginations and let’s them have a blast. There’s even a really cool track switch at the top that allows Thomas to go down the side instead of just the front and back. It’s really got endless possibilities.
The only downside that I can find to the Sodor Search and Rescue? My girls fight over who gets to play with Thomas and which way the tracks should go. But, I think I’ll let that slide.
Check out this video for a little review from my girls…It’s my very first “vlog” ever, so be gentle!
