It’s now been 12 weeks since I started getting really serious about my weight loss and healthier lifestyle. A few weeks ago, I told you that I’d hit a plateau in my weight loss and, while it was discouraging, I was determined to push through it. Then, last week, I got to report a 2.4 pound weight loss!
Breaking the plateau is the hardest part, honestly. Seeing the scale stop and sit idle for several weeks makes it incredibly hard to keep pushing forward and stay motivated. I was working so hard and it was killing me that the hard work was making no difference! But, I didn’t let that plateau beat me, but….
It.
Was.
Hard.
The Secret to Beating the Weight Loss Plateau
When you first start working on losing weight, you go in with a mindset that you can do it! You go in with vigor and work at it really hard. But, maintaining that attitude throughout the process is difficult. It’s nearly impossible when you stop seeing results. The secret is simple: Work like it’s Week 1.
When you hit that plateau and you are seeing no weight loss and no reason to continue, go back to that mindset you had during Week 1 of your journey and start kicking butt again!
Workout harder.
Eat smarter.
Know that you can do it.
Weekly Update
I’m ready for my weekly update this week. I worked my butt off these past few weeks and I’m ready to report my progress:
Starting Weight: 176.2 lbs
Current Weight: 158.4 lbs
WeeklyLoss:1.0 lb
Total Loss: 17.8lbs
Goal Weight: 154 lbs
I am just 4.4 pounds from my goal weight! My goal weight is just an interim goal. At 154 pounds, for my height and weight, my BMI will be considered “healthy” again. My long-term goal is 135 pounds. When I get there, I will feel like me again.
Here’s to breaking the plateau!

Congrats on getting closer to your goal!! Keep up all of that work. It is paying off!

Congrats!! Digging deep and finding that motivation is so hard! I’m proud of you! You’re right – often when we plateau it’s because we aren’t pushing as hard as we wherein the beginning – thanks for the reminder!
Have a great week!

congrats! I know what you mean about the plateau and how it affects you. It’s for that very reason I stopped weighing myself. I blogged about it recently, but it boils down to not letting the scale dictate how I feel. It’s been two weeks without the scale, and so far I’m good. I’m eating as best I can and getting more active. Good luck this week!

Congrats! That’s a significant weight loss. I think the plateau seems like an opportunity to quit or just give up. Love your week one mentality idea.
