Seventh Generation Holiday Cleaning Kit {Review & Giveaway}

I’ve never been much of a cleaner…actually, I recently found out that I’m kind of a slob. I never realized it before, but one day I was standing in my bedroom realizing what a mess it was (on my side only, mind you) and I told my husband, “I swear I wasn’t always this messy.”

He gave me “The Eye.” That “Eye” got me thinking back through all of my previous homes and rooms…and he was right (without saying a thing). I’ve always had a super cluttered room and I’m just plain messy! I resolved then and there to change that , so I’ve been working on my cleaning skills and pure laziness.

The review for Seventh Generation household care products couldn’t have come at a better time. By testing out these products, I’ve been forced to clean more often and it’s becoming more of a routine.

Holiday Cleaning Kit

Seventh Generation Holiday Cleaning Kit

The cleaning kit that I received contained five products from the Seventh Generation household care line.

Specialty Wood Surface Cleaner - Safely clean your dining room table with the fresh scent of natural lemon chamomile.

Hand Care Dish Liquid - A big meal is followed up by a big pile of dishes. This will do the job effectively and keep your hands feeling soft.

Automatic Dishwasher Pacs - An easy-to-use, tough scrubber that’s free of chemicals.

Lavender Purifying Hand Wash - Lather on the refreshing and relaxing scent of real lavender.

Monodose Laundry Detergent Packs - Table cloths, napkins, hand towels and dirty clothes are no match for the stain fighting power of natural ingredients in our single-use pouches.

Specialty Wood Surface Cleaner

Seventh Generation Wood CleanerI have a confession to make. Since I have lived on my own, I have never once used a cleaner on anything wooden in my home. I’ve used a duster, but that really just stirs up the dust and it comes back five minutes later. I always intended to actually dust like my mom taught me, but the laziness kicked in.

The Specialty Wood Surface Cleaner prompted me to actually clean those surfaces. I only have a few real wood surfaces in my home and they are pretty much always covered with dog fur. I do remember that my mom’s old wood cleaner left a bit of a greasy feeling to the wood, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that was not the case with the Seventh Generation wood cleaner. No residue and no dust to be found!

Hand Care Dish Liquid & Lavender Purifying Hand Wash

Seventh Generation Hand Care Dish LiquidLet me clarify one thing before I get into this – I hate doing the dishes. I had very few requirements when buying a home and a dishwasher was one of them (I know, that’s ridiculous). I absolutely hate the way my hands feel after doing dishes.

The Natural Dish Liquid from Seventh Generation has Advanced HerbaVera™ Moisturizing Technology and is a USDA Certified Biobased Product. With all of the moisture that this dish liquid puts back into my hands, I don’t have that gross feeling I get on my hands after doing dishes with other soap.

Seventh Generation Lavender Hand Wash

I received the Lavender & Vanilla scented dish liquid and, I have to admit, the fragrance is a bit strong for me. The scent comes from essential oils and botanical extracts and they’re just a bit overpowering for my tastes. The dish liquid does clean well, though, so it’s a minor issue for me.

The Lavender Purifying Hand Wash is a different story. I don’t find that fragrance overwhelming and it cleans my hands well. The lavender isn’t quite as strong in the hand wash, so I totally approve it.

Automatic Dishwasher Pacs and Monodose Laundry Detergent Packs

Seventh Generation Monodose Laundry Detergent PacksI was actually the most nervous about these. I’ve used dishwasher packs before, but never laundry detergent packs. I was worried that the plastic coating would get on the clothes or something. I wash everything in cold water, so when I got to looking into the Monodose Laundry Detergent Packs I was happy to see that they could be used in hot or cold water.

These laundry detergent packs have no dyes or synthetic fragrances, so it was perfect for our family with all of the sensitive skin. With the laundry detergent packs being clinically tested hypoallergenic, my fears were gone. We’ve used it a few times now and nobody has had any weird breakouts or anything. Not only that, but all of the clothes are clean as can be!

Seventh Generation Dishwashing PacsAs for the Automatic Dishwasher Pacs, I’m not sure if it’s because my dishwasher is so old or because of these pacs, but I don’t feel like my dishes are coming out perfectly clean. I’ve also had a little trouble getting them to fit into the little door for the dishwashing detergent. I have to push that little hatch down pretty hard to get it to close. I will probably stick with my normal dishwashing detergent for now.

I love Seventh Generation products and they’re the only cleaning products I use in my son’s bathroom because I don’t want him exposed to dangerous fumes.

Being a busy mom of two little boys, I find it difficult to do any deep cleaning around the holidays. Honestly, unless I am expecting company, I do the basics. I clean the bathrooms, the kitchen (sweeping and mopping and wiping down countertops), vacuuming the front room, dusting. I figure when my boys are a little bit older, I can do all the deep cleaning!

These 7thGeneration products would come in very handy as I don’t like to use harmful chemicals and cleaning products around my family. Thanks for the opportunity to win!
