You lucky dogs (Ha! See what I did there?)! Buddy is back to do another review! He seriously loves when stuff like this comes in. It turns him from a lazy old pooch to an excitable puppy instantly.
Recently, we received a package just for Buddy. In it were two things: a bag of SmartChips and a bag of SmartSticks. These are the newest rawhide-free dog chews from SmartBones.
Rawhide-Free?
Did you know that rawhide isn’t good for dogs? Practically ever dog bone in the doggie aisle is made from rawhide, so what gives? Well, many veterinarians advise against giving your dog rawhide because it’s not very digestible and it can pose a choking hazard.
Now, Buddy the Mutt Dog has always been a bone-lover. Every Christmas we give him bones in his stocking and he is in heaven. As a matter of fact, we gave him 3 bones this year for Christmas. Three days later, I had no clue what had happened to them. He eats those things like candy! After learning about the effects of rawhide, I will not be giving him any more of those to clog up his body!
SmartBones
Dogs love chewing and rawhides have always been an easy treat to give your dog, but SmartBones decided to give us an alternative.
SmartBones is made using extruded, wholesome, grain starch and other vegetables such as Sweet potatoes, carrots and peas, in the place of rawhide and combining it with irresistible chicken jerky.
Buddy got to try out the new SmartChips and SmartSticks. Wonder how he liked them…
I guess he was excited. As soon as he got his paws on that SmartStick he dug right in.
I guess instead of Buddy the Mutt Dog, we’ll have to start calling him Buddy the Blur Dog. He seriously dug into that SmartStick like it was going to run away on him! He was chewing the stick and licking his lips so fast that I couldn’t grab a decent picture of him. If I got too close for a shot, he’d grab his stick and go to a safer place!
Buddy has now gone through nearly an entire bag of each product, so I assume he likes them. They’re made of vegetables on the outside and chicken (or peanut butter) on the inside, so I know he’s getting good stuff out of these SmartBones products. These chews are much more digestible (more than 99%) than traditional rawhide bones, so I’m not worried about him getting clogged up from eating them.
Win SmartBones!
Enter below to win SmartChips and SmartSticks for your pooch! They’ll thank you!
Disclosure: I received free product in order to facilitate my honest review. All thoughts and opinions are 100% my own (or Buddy’s, in which case I had to assume due to I don’t speak dog).

Good to know you are giving Buddy stuff that is good for him instead of possibly harmful.
