I am in an unusually good mood

I couldn’t tell you one single thing that has made me feel so unusually happy on this Monday morning. Maybe it’s the fact that my Dumpling’s third birthday party went extremely well (pictures to follow as soon as I am not lazy and upload them). Maybe it’s the fact that I received a glass bead magnet from a terribly crafty person this morning (who just so happens to be the same person who planned and executed the flawless Tinkerbell birthday party this weekend). Or, maybe it’s the fact that I just received a very random box of chocolates from my old boss.

It could be any of those things.

But it’s probably not.

It’s most likely the fact that today I celebrate six years of marriage with my husband. He has been the greatest love, best friend and most amazing father to my children I could have asked for. He has treated me with love, respect and care since the very beginning and I have never been happier. Our marriage has grown so much in these past six years. Our marriage has evolved into an amazing relationship that I wouldn’t trade for the world.

We have been through some very tough times. I cannot even begin to tell you how far we have come. But, through all of the turmoil, we have grown closer and stronger than any relationship I have ever known. We know each other’s flaws and weaknesses and choose not to exploit them. We know each other’s strengths and perfections and choose to embrace them. I know all of his little nuances and he knows all of my weird quirks (there are a few).

I wouldn’t trade these past six years for anything in the world. I love my hubby and I’m so thankful that we found each other. There really is no logical reason why we ever should have even met, but we did. I don’t know where I would be without my hubby, but I’m glad I don’t have to find out.

Jaguars Don’t Wear Panties!

This weekend, I definitely experienced a Mommy Moment that must be shared. It’s a good thing Vicki over at Frugal Moms Knows Best does this “Mommy Moment Monday” every week, eh?

And so, here I am…sharing with you my Mommy Moment. It’s super embarrassing, but I’m not sure that it should be. Let’s examine this scenario, shall we?

My girls love Go, Diego! Go! They love it a lot. More than most kids, I think. They have every DVD memorized and can tell me exactly which episode they want to watch and exactly what video it’s on and exactly how it goes. Because of this, I have them memorized, too. If I didn’t, I would incur the WRATH of two little girls who aren’t getting their pygmy marmoset rescue fast enough. You know the type.

So, the girls are watching one of their videos in Pumpkin’s room (yes, there is a  TV in my 3 year old’s room. No, it doesn’t get cable. And no, I don’t want to hear what a horrible mother this makes me) and it’s clearly got Baby Jaguar in it because it’s Diego. He rolls with jaguars. He’s cool like that. Now..it’s not out of the ordinary for my girls to become any animal they see on TV. That day, they just happened to be jaguars. I heard a lot of “Row ROW!” coming from the room and lot of jumping. I did not foresee the next occurrence….

“JAGUARS DON’T WEAR PANTIES!”

And both of my girls come hauling tail out of Pumpkin’s bedroom and they. are. naked. I am laughing hysterically because, as you may know, jaguars also run on all fours. So, I’ve got two very short little girls that are very naked that are running around on hands and feet and yelling “ROW ROW!” just like Baby Jaguar.

It is at this very moment that I hear my husband come home. He was out and about and he chose this moment to come home. So I ran to the garage and gave him fair warning that Jaguars don’t wear panties. He had an absolutely HORROR-STRICKEN look on his face. (He doesn’t do so well with the naked baby girl thing.) He comes inside and his face turns even more HORROR STRICKEN when he sees that they are running on all fours and yelling (like a mantra, I swear) JAGUARS DON’T WEAR PANTIES!

Finally, he bribed them into clothing with chocolate chip cookies (that’s how we roll) and all was well again. But it was definitely one of the funniest things I’ve experienced as a mom. Absolutely epic.
