It’s December!

Can you believe it’s December already? The tree is up. We have been decoratingthe house. This morning, we got to start the Advent Calendar with our girls. It’s basically their favorite thing about December and probably one of their favorite things of the entire year. When we put it away after Christmas, their little eyes are so sad. But, during the month of December, they are happy little baby gooses.

And since it’s December, that means November is over. And THAT means that NaBloPoMo is OVER! I made it, too. I posted every single day in November – and many days I posted more than once. As a matter of fact, my Archives show that I posted a total of eighty times in the month of November. That’s a record for me. It’s actually more than I posted between TWO blogs last summer when I tried my hand at creating my own social/blogging blog. It just proved to be too much to keep up with at the time.

To those of you that participated in NaBloPoMo, how do you feel? Did you finish? Was it as hard as we all thought it would be?

I actually found it to be easierthan I thought. I didn’t even realize the month was over until this morning when I ripped a page off of my desk calendar. I forgot all about NaBloPoMo, but it didn’t forget me and kept at me in my head to make me keep writing.

And keep writing I did!

One thing I did not know going in was that there is a new NaBloPoMo every month.

Well, crap.

I thought November was it and we were done.

I am not formally going to participate in December’s NaBloPoMo. I can’t promise that I will be near my computer every single day (who am I kidding? Yes I will) and I can’t promise that I will want to be logged on to my computer every day (this one’s true. I like taking an unplugged day now and then).

So, for those of you doing NaBloPoMo this month, good luck to you! This is going to be even harder than November. There are so many things that have to get done in December – Shopping, Wrapping, Cooking, Traveling, Loving, Snuggling, Sleeping!

Happy December, everyone!

Cheesy Garlic Bread Sticks {Recipe}

I was hopping around on StumbleUpon the other day (you do follow me on StumbleUpon, don’t you?) and came across some really amazing looking recipes. But, out of all of them, this recipe for Fail-Proof Pizza Dough and Cheesy Garlic Bread Sticks really stuck out.

I didn’t feel like actually making pizza dough, but I had a can/tube of Pillsbury Pizza Dough at home in the fridge and thought I could just substitute that right in! I don’t have step-by-step pictures because I’m not cool like that, but I do have the finished product!

Don’t mind the mis-shapedness of it all. The pizza dough in a can/tube never rolls out like it’s supposed to, but it still tastes just as good. I just had to patch it together a bit. Before I share my recipe, please keep in mind this is like the Sandra Lee Semi-Homemade version of the extra-yummyversion that Lauren has on her blog.

Ingredients

  • 1 Can/Tube of Pillsbury Pizza Dough
  • 2 tables of softened butter or margarine
  • 2 tsp of pre-minced garlic in a jar (about 2 cloves of the real stuff)
  • 1 bag of pizza cheese from Kroger (provolone, mozzarella and parmesan)
  • Grated Parmesan Cheese
  • Salt, Pepper, Dried Oregano

Directions

Preheat oven to 500°.

Mix your butter and garlic together in a bowl. Roll out your pizza dough on a pizza stone (I used my Pampered Chef Cookie Sheet).

Cover the dough with the butter/garlic mixture. I used my hands, you can be dainty and use a spatula or something.

Cover that with the cheese (as much as you’d like, it’s going to melt pretty deliciously) and then sprinkle some of the parmesan on top.

Top with salt, pepper and oregano to your heart’s content. I like using Oregano because it makes things look fancy.

Bake for about 1o minutes until it looks amazing and let it cool a minute.

Slice it up and enjoy!

The really great thing about my stoneware was that it kept the cheesy garlic bread sticks hot for a really long time, so even when I went back for seconds (or thirds) it was still hot and gooey. You are going to LOVE these, whether you use my semi-homemade recipe or Lauren’s really homemade recipe!

Catching up on some reading… #NaBloPoMo

With The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Part 1being released on November 18th and my midnight release tickets having been in my hot little hands since the day they were available, I feel like I should do what I can to prepare. I’ve read the entire Twilight Saga a plethora of times, but it’s been a year or two since I’ve picked up the books. To get my head in the right space, I am re-reading them on my Kindle. I’ve got until Thursday to get it done and I’m not quite yet through Twilight (I started yesterday). This may be an impossible task (especially when paired with NaBloPoMo) but I have to try. If it comes down to it, I’ll watch the darn movies.

It’s time for me to get back to reading. I have a goal to reach, dang it!

Are you looking forward to the release of Breaking Dawn?

NaBloPoMo 2011I can’t believe it’s only thirteen days into NaBloPoMo. I feel like I’ve been writing a post every day for FOREVER! This really is harder than I thought it would be. The weekends are the hardest. I actually have to set a reminder on my phone to tell me to post, especially on Sunday. My brain just goes to sleep on the weekends and doesn’t particularly want to wake up, but I’m forcing it! Only 17 more days to go!
