#Mamavation Monday: Losing Steam?

You know…I have to admit that I haven’t been feeling my blogging mojo lately. You’ve probably noticed my absence (or you haven’t – hence, my mojo loss). Even if I’m losing steam on my blog (which I will get back…just stick with me), I have not lost any steam on my weight loss journey. The Mamavation family has kept me motivated and feeling good about my progress.

Let’s just jump right in, shall we?

Mamavation Monday

Weekly Goals

  • Drink at least 64 ounces of water each day – Pretty close last week…just missed one day.
  • Get to the gym at least 4 times this week – Only made it three times last week, but they were good workouts each time.
  • Finish week 4 of the Couch 2 5K running plan – Nope. Couldn’t do week 4, but I’ll keep trying.
I’m going to keep working on these three goals for the coming week. They are good goals and are exactly what I need to be doing.

 Challenges

  • Time! Finding the time to go to the gym some days is hard, but I’m making it a priority and my hubby has been extremely supportive helping me find the time.
  • Soda – Still a challenge for me. I just can’t seem to kick the habit, but I’m doing better!

Triumphs

  • I can see the changes in my midsection and it rocks my socks!
  • I have not over-indulged on junk food this past week. This is truly awesome for me!

Weekly Weigh-In

Starting Weight: 176.2 lbs

Current Weight: 158.2 lbs

Weekly Loss: -1.4 lbs

Total Loss: 18 lbs

Goal Weight: 154 lbs

I had a gain last week, but this week I’m happy to report a 1.4 pound loss! That means that I lost what I gained, plus a little extra! I’m now officially down 18 pounds, with only 3.2 pounds left to go!

Mamavation Monday: Losing Inches

Mamavation Monday

I know most people would be discouraged at this point. It’s been a few weeks since I’ve been able to report any weight loss. As a matter of fact, I actually gained a pound this week. But, I’m not discouraged and I’m not depressed. You want to know why?

Because I lost 1.5 inches off my waist and 1.5 inches off my hips!

I haven’t been measuring my thighs, but I’d be willing to bet there are inches gone there, too. I was at the gym the other day and when I was at the leg press, I realized that my legs weren’t jiggling when I lowered them. They were stone cold solid and I haven’t had that happen since….a long time ago. Don’t get me wrong, I still have cellulite and they’re still horse thighs, but they’re SOLID horse thighs. And my calves are downright good-looking.

I’m excited!

Nothing motivates me more than seeing results and I am definitely seeing results right now! Now, I just need to get that scale moving.

I’ve seen a lot of the other Mamavation sistas make themselves weekly goals and it seems to work for them, so I’m going to do the same.

Weekly Goals

  • Drink at least 64 ounces of water each day.
  • Get to the gym at least 4 times this week.
  • Finish week 4 of the Couch 2 5K running plan.

 Challenges

  • Junk food – I have a very overactive sweet tooth that can‘t be tamed.
  • Laziness – This hasn’t been as much of an issue for a few weeks, but I know it’s still there.
  • Soda – I still can’t seem to cut out my Diet Coke, but I’m working on cutting back.

Triumphs

  • Lost 3 inches overall!
  • Mowed the entire yard (1/2 acre) by hand and did the weedwacking – This is a great workout when I can’t make it to the gym!
  • No more jiggle in my thighs!

Weekly Weigh-In

Starting Weight: 176.2 lbs

Current Weight: 159.6 lbs

Weekly Loss: +1.2 lbs

Total Loss16.6 lbs

Goal Weight: 154 lbs

Running my first 5K

This isn’t my typical Mamavation Monday post. Mainly because I haven’t lost a single pound this week and I just don’t want to dwell on that. Instead, I’m going to focus on something that I am insanely proud of and has been on my bucket list forever.

Komen Race for the Cure

That’s right. On May 12, 2012, I will be participating in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure 5K in downtown Atlanta. I’ve never been a runner, but I have been working hard to get myself to a point where I can at least make a decent time. But, most importantly, it’s about who I’m running for:

My Aunt Brenda

My friend, Kitty

Kitty fought the beast and won, so to be running alongside her means a lot to me. The fact that my Aunt Brenda fought against breast cancer until her dying day makes me want to keep anyone else from ever having to see someone they love go through the same thing.

Kitty’s the strength. Brenda’s the inspiration.

Race for the Cure

I would love to have the support of my Mamavation sistas and wonderful blog readers behind me during this race, so if you feel like you’re able to help, I would very much appreciate any donation you can give to the cause. To donate, just click here or on the image above and donate to my Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure team! My personal goal is only $200, but I would love to blow that goal out of the water and help raise as much of the team goal of $1,000 as I possibly can.

I can’t wait to run in my very first 5K and really push myself to the limit. I’ve been doing the Couch 2 5K program to get ready, and I’ve really surprised myself with how far I’ve come. What’s more is that in just 13 weeks, Mamavation will be hosting a virtual 5K that I cannot wait to take part in!

Are you a runner? Any tips for a newbie like me?
