I’m blowing bubbles for clean air! {Revised}

I just received an email from SITS stating that it seems their original post was taken as political in nature by some and so they have removed the post. Sensitive people…geez. It’s just a contest that I was quite excited about trying to win. I will not be taking this post down because I believe in this cause and I think my bubble collage looks cool. So there. Be offended.

Maybe you’ve seen a few of these banners lately…

How to blog about clean air

That’s because the SITS Girls are teaming up with a non-profit organization called EarthJustice for their #Right2Breathe campaign, which gives Americans the knowledge and tools they need to support the Clean Air Act. The #Right2Breathe campaign is simple – post a picture of yourself blowing a bubble as a symbolic step to spread the word that we all need clean air.

First off, I haven’t chewed gum in ages, so even knowing what kind of gum would get me a decent bubble was a task in itself. Once I figured that out, I had the daunting task of taking a picture of myself with my phone blowing a bubble that didn’t look awful. That meant a lot of shots had to be taken, but I finally came up with a great idea…Why do I need just one shot of me showing my support for clean air?

The SITS Girls and EarthJustice are also offering everyone that participates in this bubble-blowing campaign a chance to win The Best Blog Giveaway Evera Canon Digital SLR Camera, an Epiphanie Camera Bag AND a ticket to the Bloggy Boot Camp of the winner’s choice in 2012. Um, yeah. I’m entering.

Tomorrow, I will not be posting my regular weight loss update (that will come on Friday) because I am guest posting for the fabulous Marvelous Mommy tomorrow. See you then!

What a day!

Oh wow. Yesterday was….ridiculously amazing. As a matter of fact, December as a whole has been pretty amazing in bloggyland and all I can say is…

This month, I have seen tremendous traffic on a few different occasions. At the beginning of the month, there was the Holiday Gift Giveaway Hop hosted by Simply Stacie and her group of other awesome blog friends. There were over 270 blogs linked up together – all with their own giveaways of various gift cards in varying amounts. This drew in some mega traffic for my own little blog. I can’t imagine what it did for the bigger blogs! Between those five days, I saw over 1,800 pageviews. On a normal “good” week, I see about 500. So, wow to that one.

Then, on Sunday night, I got an email from the folks at Invest It Wisely and Yakezie and they got me all fired up {again} about the evil that is Google PageRank and the up and coming replacement ranking system – mozRank. So, due to my firedupness, I wrote this post. It was promoted by both of the aforementioned sites, as well as by {once again} Simply Stacie who is just as fired up about Google PageRank as I am and who helped me the last time I wrote about it, too.

That same day, I also started working with Bejool.com and helping them search for their first set of reviewers. Once again, Stacie got involved because she is  the review queen and sent out a link to the application post in her Blogger Outreach newsletter. BAM! So, Monday I saw 547 hits on my little old blog…normally I get about 100. That’s twice this month I’ve seen amazing traffic thanks to Stacie and her amazing network of readers. So, to Stacie…

But then….Then came my SITS day. Thanks to all of you, my blog saw it’s highest traffic ever in that one day – 652 hits. The SITS girls and all of the amazing readers who came over from the one little feature really made my day. I looked forward to that day ever since the first e-mail I got from Kat asking me the famous blogger interview questions. I was more nervous answering those interview questions than I was actually asking questions of Nona Sivley (winner of this season’s Hell’s Kitchen) for my post on Today’s Mama.

The bottom line here is that you guys rock my socks. The amazing comments, tweets and emails I got yesterday really made my heart smile. I have been making my way back around to all of the bloggers that commented here that day and I hope to get back to every single one of you. I really hope that you all liked what you saw and that you will stick around and continue to leave comment love. I will almost always return the love….whether it be through a visit back to your site or a reply to the comment. So, to all of you who came by yesterday and showed me the love….

It’s my SITS Day!!

I can hardly contain my excitement! I have been waiting for this day for almost a year and I can’t believe it’s finally here!

It’s my SITS Day!!

So you ask, “What is a SITS and why are you so freaking happy about it?” SITS (or The Secret is in the Sauce) is a group of more than 7,000 women bloggers dedicated to supporting one another by leaving comments. If you’re a female blogger and you are not a member of SITS, I cannot stress enough how important it is for you to go and join in the community. All it takes is some willingness to get to know your fellow bloggers and support them through comments. There is no work. It’s all play.

Welcome!

If this is your first time on Lindsay Blogs, please take a look around and get to know me. I love writing stories about my life. My hubby and I have two beautiful children (which I dedicated a series to here), but I hope that someday we can have more. I’ve written about my loss and my faith. I’ve even written about my dog we got earlier this year.

Big things are coming!

I don’t only stick to my own life on this blog, though. I also do some product reviews and giveaways to keep it fresh around here. As a matter of fact, you need to be here on January 10th, when I kick of my mega Baby Shower Giveaway Event. This is the biggest single-winner giveaway I’ve done on this blog. One winner will get almost $300 worth of baby-centered products from the sponsors. It’s seriously an online baby shower and I can’t wait! I’m announcing a new sponsor every week, so keep coming back to check out the prizes.

I even have a giveaway right now to get 250 custom-made blogger cards from Lucky 7 Designs that has pretty low entries, so I would love it if you would check it out and enter to win some beautiful blogger cards. I’m also helping in a search for 15 bloggers to review some gorgeous jewelry from Bejool.com. If you are interested in reviewing a beautiful necklace, just go here and get the details! (Update: The reviewer applications have been closed due to overwhelming response, but I still urge you to sign up for the Bejool.com newsletter for their daily deals and opportunities!)

Alright, there’s me, folks. I hope you’ll stick around! You can subscribe via RSS or E-Mail. You can also find me on Facebook and Twitter, so be sure to connect with me there, too!
